My brother Eli is in town, and requested a trip that included a boat, islands, inlets, and big trees. Ross Lake seemed like the perfect location. We rented a skiff from
Ross Lake Resort and set out for a day of family fun. See below for our trip, described in 35,000 words (i.e. 35 pictures).
Hiking down to the lake with my favorite little girl.
Tom in his happy place – on the water, with the fam.

Morning snack on Cougar Island
From left to right: Colonial, Snowfield, Paul Bunyan’s Stump, Pyramid Peak
Rockin’ the EE kit
Tom takes skipping stones to a new level.
May Creek Falls
Eli relaxing during our lunch break, with Ruby Mountain in the background
Peanut Butter Jelly Time
Former gymnast, still got it!

“Really, mom, another picture?”
Headed up Devil’s Creek
Waterfall at the back of Devil’s Creek
Eli’s grabbing an oar. I’m only slightly concerned.
Headed back out to the lake
I call this one: Reflections of a Sideways Grumpy Man
Trees in every direction
Yep, they were laughing at me. It’s a good thing I love them both!
No, that way…
Another waterfall tumbling into Ross Lake
Hiking back to the car
Practicing gymnastics – very focused
And it’s a perfect dismount!

Very cool! Was it just a day trip? So badly want to get up Ross Lake this year. (Preferably to hike up Desolation)
Yep, just a day trip!
