Trip report: Lunds Gulch

Yesterday I did a short “urban trail run” to Lunds Gulch. Unfortunately, the last time I parked at Meadowdale Beach Park my car got broken into, so I’m leery of that lot.
Therefore this time I parked in the neighborhood approximately 1 mile south of the park, and ran north along the water. I accessed the park via 75th Place West Β (no vehicle access – peds or cyclists only).Β I did a 5 mile out-and-back, approx half of which was in the park along the Lunds Gulch trail.

The tunnel providing beach access is officially closed, but no one seems to be paying attention to the sign. High tide for Edmonds, WA was 10.46 ft at 9:17 am. I was there at 9:30 am and the tunnel was still passable on the planks. It might be a little sketchy for toddlers (this a popular family spot), but everyone else should be fine, even at high tide.

The trail is in excellent condition. The beach was nicer than I remembered – it was foggy, so I didn’t get any views of the Olympics, but I could see ferries rolling in and out of Edmonds and hear their fog horns in the distance.

This is a good option for north enders who want to get to the beach/woods but don’t have a ton of time.
